The silver lining glares at me,
its laughter fills the room.
It stands in contrast to the sky,
proclaiming pending doom.
The silver lining blinds me while
I strain to see it’s face,
as me and mine still suffer from
its ill effects, debased.
And who’s to blame when lightning strikes
and thunder takes its toll?
Did we not stand so idly by
while to our hearts consoled?
To fears and dread we have allayed
while in our hearts did surge
some thread of hope and love at last,
our bodies then submerged.
