Repose

Give to me a brief respite
of peaceful ease, repose,
a moment, Dear, to collect myself,
a moment to compose.

What whithered mind and body I
have found myself to own
as a prisoner underneath this sky
who needs some time alone.

Unseemly in an ideal world
as pressures seem to mount,
the breaking dawn a sad affair
with many tears to count.

So give me now a well-earned rest,
a precious week or two,
so that I may be in comfort lest
I never see this through.
